- Biome Lesson Plan - This is a link to a 5th grade lesson plan that introduces biomes to students. It includes activities and an assesment.
- Biome in a Box - This lesson plan has students build a biome in a box. It gives detailed descriptions of what they should include. It also gives a suggestion for a creative writing activity.
- Biomes of the World - This website has a map of the world that shows the location of each biome. It also has pages of information on each specific biome.
- PBS Biomes - This lesson plan has great links to PBS resources that give an introduction to biomes. The printable (PDF) Biome Worksheet and World Map are a great resource to guide students' research.
- Mission Biomes - This website is part of the NASA Earth Observatory. This is a great start for students to get basic information on the biomes. It gives temperature, precipitation, vegetation, location and a description of seven different biomes.
- Teacher Resources - This is the teacher page of the NASA Earth Observatory for biomes. It lists math, science and social studies standards. It also gives some great hands-on activity ideas.
- Biomes and Communities Definition - This short YouTube video gives a very good basic explanation of what a biome is.
- World Biomes - This website has a brief introductory page, but its strength is the links to each of nine different biomes. Each link then links to plants, animals and climate for that biome.
- What's it Like? - This website gives detailed information on each of six land biomes, three freshwater ecosystems and three marine ecosystems.
- Beyond Penguins - This website is only about the tundra, but it gives lots of links to lesson plans and activities.
- Biome Sorting - This is a hands-on activity to help students practice the information they have been learning about biomes.
- What and Who Lives Where? - A printable activity that will give your students some hands-on learning.
- Ecosystems and Biomes - A great website with a wide variety of information including activities, graphic organizers, slide shows and online quizzes.
- Biome Activity - Fun activity involving sorting and graphing animal crackers.
- Biome Discovery Expedition - A lesson idea that combines computer research with hands-on activites.
- Biomes Concept Map - Printable map with some information already filled in. This would be great in a special education class.
- Biome Project - A lesson that turns learning about biomes into selling your biome as a tourist attraction.
- Biome Map - A coloring page that helps students identify biomes on a map.
- The World's Biomes - This website focuses on the five major biomes. It gives a brief descriptions of biomes, then links to the five major biomes. Within each biome is a description of that biomes sub-biomes.
